Abstract. . Based on the analysis of multi-time aerial photographs, satellite images, and publications, data on mudflows in the Chegem River basin with maximum removal volumes and unusual formation conditions in the mudflow basins of the Jailyksu, Sarynsu, Shaurtu, and Yrhykol rivers are presented. The maximum volume of outflow (about 2.0 million m3) was recorded in the basin of the Jailyksu River with the formation of an incision in the moraine pedestal. The 1959 mudflow process in the Sarysu River valley with a sedimentation area of 153 thousand m2 was initiated by the subglacial breakthrough of the lake in the rear basin of the stone glacier. A mudflow in the valley of the Shaurtu River formed a milling cutter about 900 m long at the colluvial glacial complex in 2012.
