SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

GurbanovA.G., Kusraev A.G., Lolaev A.B., Leksin A.B., Oganesyan A.Kh., Dzeboev S.O., Gazeev V.M., Dokuchaev A.Ya., Tsukanova L.E., Gurbanova O.A., Ilaev V.E., Baranova M.N.  The  main  sources  of  water pollution  in  the  river  Ardon,  its  degree  and  scale,  the  evaluation based  on  the  results  of  geochemical  study  water  samples  from control  points  (RNO-A: The Republic of North Ossetia-Alania)

Abstract. The article proves that the main source with the greatest degree of technogenic water pollution of the river Ardon water are tailing ponds with a «protective» lake and and abnormally polluted water, that is drained through the drainage system into the river Ardon, whereas its tributaries (the rivers Sadonka, Arhondon, Unaldon) are of secondary importance in this process. According to the sampling taken in the area from the river Ardon to the town Alagir, currently the extent of pollution is estimated in 20 km (from Unalsky tailing pond up to the town of Alagir) and in 30 km (from the mouth of Sadonka river up to the town of Alagir). Due to the lack of wells or springs for drinking water in alluvial aquifers of the Ardon river valley, on the section from tailing pond and downstream to Alagir (which is situated on the plain), the degree of their pollution is still unknown due to infiltration of abnormally polluted water of the «protective» lake (from wind erosion) and underground hydrosphere in which ecologically dangerous elements can accumulate. The revealed variation in concentrations of macro and micro elements in the waters of the «protective» lake result from the fact that except for ores from SLZC (Sadon Lead-Zinc Combine) in MODF (Mizur Ore-Dressing Factory) could have been processed cakes from “Electrozinc” and from other plants, containing As, Bi, Sb, V, Cr, B, Mo, W. Different speed currents of the Ardon river in the canyon (2.3 m/s from the tailing pond to the Tamisk resort) and in the plain (1.6-1.5 m/s in the vicinity of the town of Alagir) could have led to differentiated deposition of fine-dispersed tailing material in the bottom sediments. Their capacity, and accordingly, the polluting effect on the water of the river in the canyon will be less then at the river’s way out onto the piedmont plain, which is confirmed by the results of geochemical studies.

Popov  K.P.  The  gate  of  the  nature

Abstract. . In this article described notable and important issues for the nature and human activities, concerning natural gateways – on rivers (canyons), in the seas, lakes and mountains. Some of them since ancient times had served as passages for people. Others, which are less known, are situated in the rugged mountains (passes etc.) and are used just by some tourists. Hydropower stations have been constructed in narrow river passages (river gateways). Communication lines, wild animals’ paths and migratory routes of plants pass through natural gateways. Some of them have significant paleogeographic importance for reconstructing natural conditions of the past.

Abstract. In this article winter triticale varieties of the IPI (All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Industry named after N.I. Vavilov) world collection on the complex of agronomic characters are described. The sources of grain, short-stemness, sustainability to FHB (Fusarium head blight) high productivity have been identified. A collection of the initial material for the selection of the winter triticale varieties, adapted to the conditions of the piedmont zone of the North Caucasus has been made.

Boliyeva Z.A. Potato hybrids of GGAU (Mountainous State Agrarian University of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania) selection, containing wild genes in the pedigree line

Abstract. The success of breeding depends mainly on the correct approach to the choice of the parent couple, which will ensure the formation of seedlings with complementary-valuable traits, however, in the process of obtaining the hybrid progeny, the majority of seedlings are rejected due to the low yield, and also because of different morphobiological features, that do not meet the requirements of releasing high-quality raw material for the variety creation. Considering prospects of using varieties, containing wild genes in the pedigree line for acquiring hybrid progeny resistant to fungal, viral diseases, heat and drought, we carried out the crossbreeding in 2011 in the ecological conditions of the mountainous zone of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania (GornyKurtat village, Alagir district, 1400 m. a. s. l.).
