DOI 10.46698/VNC.2022.55.59.001
Abstract. The article highlights the cooperation in the field of Ossetian studies of the outstanding Russian scientist V.F. Miller with a remarkable representative of the Ossetian intelligentsia, educator A.A. Kanukov. Five letters of A.A. Kanukov to a scientist from the funds of the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art and one letter published by ethnographer-kavkazologist B.A. Kaloev are widely used. It is noted that the Ossetian proverbs collected by A.A. Kanukov were included in the third part of V.F. Miller's book "Ossetian Studies". A.A. Kanukov's participation is indicated. Kanukova in providing materials for the Ossetian-Russian-German dictionary, on the compilation of which the scientist worked for many years.

abich I.L. Tambiy Elekhoti: some aspects of the political life in the European emigration in the 1920–1940.
DOI 10.46698/VNC.2022.14.47.001
Abstract. The aim of this study is to describe the main directions of the social and political activities one of the most famous Ossetian in European emigration in the 1920-1940s –Tambiya Elekhoti. The study of the peculiarities of the political life of North Caucasian emigrants is an important and actual part in the field of foreign Caucasian studies. It can to understand like the modern political trends as the social paradigms. The article was prepared on the basis of archival materials collected in France and Russia. In this article is study life of Elekhoti in detail. The author examines some aspects of Elekhoti's personal and political life. Until now, there has been no scientific research on this person. Before the revolution, Elekhoti did not show him-self in political life, but in emigration, in Czech Republic and France, he supported the idea of creating an independent state in the North Caucasus. Nevertheless, he did not occupied high positions in the North Caucasian organizations in emigration. He was not a member of the Caucasian Masonic Lodge. In the 1920- 30s he focused on preparing some articles on the history and ethnography of the peoples of the North Caucasus in general, and the Ossetians in particular. He was excellent publicist. At the end of 1920s.he began to work in the anti-Russian agency "Ofinor". It was the tool of the p large-scale pro-fascist propaganda. There are several arguments in favor of this version

Pankin M.I. The life story of Janusz Mandi in Russia
DOI 10.46698/VNC.2022.45.34.001
Abstract. The paper examines the influence of historical events of the first half of the twentieth century on the life of a subject of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Janos Mandi. At the beginning of the First World War, he found himself in Siberia in Russian captivity. After the February and especially the October Revolution in Russia, the Austro-Hungarian prisoners of war who were in Siberia were rapidly politicized, which was facilitated by the very favorable attitude of the Bol-sheviks to the Magyar prisoners of war. In December 1919 Janos Mandi (Ivan Ivanovich Mandi) under the influence of agitation, joined the ranks of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army as a volunteer and in January 1920 was accepted by the Hungarian section of the Novonikolaevsky City Party Committee as a member of the Russian Communist Party of the Bolsheviks (RCP(b). In May 1925, by order of the Revolutionary Military Council of the Republic for No. 1244, he was demobilized by age. Having knowledge of vineyard cultivation technology and winemaking technology, Ivan Ivanovich devoted his entire working life to the development of cognac produc-tion and the viticulture industry in the North Caucasus, His life example influenced the authors of this article in terms of choosing a profession, responsible attitude to business and his family.

Chibirov A.L. Scythian language: current state in the context of historical and linguistic discussions
DOI 10.46698/VNC.2022.60.78.001
Abstract. Considering issues of the Scythian language contemporary state, the article focuses on the comparison of scientific positions of S.V. Kullanda, a historian-orientalist and linguist and his opponent Yu.A. Dzitstsoity, that is of interest for more complete coverage of the problem. The author assumes that the question of the Scythian language identification does not lose its relevance, especially in the light of ethnopolitical processes in which Russia has been involved during the past two decades of its modern history. The author notes that in response to S.V. Kullanda's innovative suggestions on the new interpretation of the Scythian onomastics and glosses, linguists raise arguments against them, basing on the provisions of Classical Linguistics. The article emphasizes that a theory on differentiation of the Scythian and Sarmato-Alanic languages by a Polish linguist K.T. Vitchak, has been developed in a cycle of S.V. Kullanda's articles that provide arguments and appropriate results of archaeological excavations. The article draws a conclusion that with the search and discovery of new evidences related to the Scythian language, K.T.Vitchak and S.V. Kullanda's theory might obtain confirmation or be disproved in further linguistic studies.

ETHNOGRAPHY

Kulumbegov R.P. Traditions of formation of sacred space in Ossetia
DOI 10.46698/VNC.2022.99.97.001
Abstract. The publication presents a fragment from the notes of the Turkish ethnographer, folklorist and local historian Süleyman Kazmaz, characterizing the marriage rituals that existed among the descendants of Ossetian settlers (muhajirs) in the Sarıkamış district of Kars province in northeastern Turkey presumably until the early 1940s. The described customs and ceremonies do not differ significantly from the known examples of the Ossetian marriage and wedding cycle. Nonetheless, they are informative as an indicator of the state of cultural and ethnic identity of the Sarıkamış Ossetians in that period.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Gurbanov A.G., Gazeev V.M., Dokuchaev A.V., Leksin A.B., Gurbanova O.A. Results of geochemical study of rock-forming quartz from volcanics of the Elbrus volcanic center and their interpretation
DOI 10.46698/VNC.2022.25.44.001
Abstract. The article presents the geochemical characteristics of rock-forming quartz (101 samples) from volcanic rocks of late Pleistocene, and of the pre-caldera, caldera and post-caldera stages in the history of the development of the Elbrus volcanic center. It has been established that from the rocks of the pre-caldera stage to the post-caldera one, in quartz, a general decrease in the contents of elements isomorphically replacing silicon in silicon-oxygen tetrahedra is found. Against this background, quartz of the pre-caldera stage with low titanium contents stand out. Lithophilic elements with large ionic radius, such as La, Ce, Mo, Th, and Sc, show mutually similar distribution trends in quartz. It is shown that quartz from lavas and lava breccias of the late stage of the post-caldera stage is characterized by the relative accumulation of almost all non-isomorphic trace elements, which can be explained by post-magmatic hydrothermal activity. At the same time, opposite trends are observed in the accumulation of As and Ag, on the one hand, and Sb, on the other hand, in quartz at the pre-caldera stage of development; As and Sb, on the one hand, and Ag, on the other hand, at the post-caldera stage of development. Accumulation trend in quartza zinc from pre-caldera to post-caldera rocks is the most distinct. The obtained precision data on the geochemical features of quartz from uneven-aged EVC rocks confirmed the legitimacy of distinguishing the above stages and stages of its volcanic activity, and two different age groups of ignimbrites identified from geological, isotopic data, and from the results of EPR dating. Proven that rock-forming quartz from subvolcanic bodies of dacitic composition that make up the Kyukyurtly and Irikore-magmatic systems (OMS) have sharply elevated concentrations of Zn, Mo, Th, Ag, As, Ce, and La, and that these data can be used as indicators of the potential ore content of the OMS for specific metals.

DOI 10.46698/VNC.2022.22.42.001
Abstract. One of the directions of application of engineering geometry techniques for solving mining and geological problems based on geometric modeling is considered. Geometric modeling of mining and geological objects characterized by complex spatial formations allows to perform their mathematical description and use computer-aided design systems to solve various engineering problems, which significantly reduces the cost of field research.
