DOI 10.46698/r5072-2220-0977-r
Abstract. The Russian Polar expedition (RPE) in fiction and historical literature is usually regarded as an expedition in search of the legendary Sannikov Land. But the RPE was no less important from the point of view of Russia’s geopolitical interests: it had a wide scientific and public resonance, was under the supreme patronage of the President of the Imperial Academy of Sciences, Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich. At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries, a tense internal and external socio-political situation developed on the northeastern and eastern borders of Russia. In this regard, the RPE was tasked with «promoting the occupation of the Arctic islands and ensuring their fishing wealth for Russian industrialists, as well as showing the possibility of utilizing the path to the Bering Strait.» In the first part of the article, on a documentary basis, possible reasons for the disagreements between the head of the expedition, geologist E.V. Toll and the commander of the yacht «Zarya» Lieutenant N.N. Kolomeytsev reviewed. The human factor (first of all, the conflict between the two RPE leaders and the language barrier), extremely unfavorable weather conditions and other objective reasons led to the death of people and the relative failure of the expedition that did not reach the Bering Strait. In the second part of the article the main attention will be paid to the geopolitical significance of the expeditions with the participation of E.V. Toll and his associates in the Russian Polar expedition.

Shcherbinin D.Y. To the 60th anniversary of the flight of Yu.A.Gagarin into outer space. The flight of the first experimental satellite «Vostok-1P» as a key moment in the formation of the Soviet manned astronautics
DOI 10.46698/s5718-7628-1762-a
Abstract. . In the history of Soviet rocket and space technology we can identify a number of key events that influenced it’s development. Such events in the middle of the 20th century include the launch of the experimental satellite «Vostok-1P», which took place on May 15, 1960. This was preceded by a period of decisions that were unique for the 1950-60s scientific and technical problems and organizational issues at the level of interaction between state enterprises and organizations. The flight results determined the further program of test flights of manned and unmanned satellite ships in the USSR. The experimental flight of the satellite spacecraft has shown the correctness of the basic theoretical provisions and engineering design decisions taken when creating an oriented spacecraft. Later, on the basis of the «Vostok» satellite ship, the «Vostok-3A» and «Voskhod» manned spacecraft and «Zenit» reconnaissance satellites were developed. In the history of science and technology, the development of «Vostok» satellites is a vivid example of solving a fundamental problem that contributed to the strengthening of the scientific and technical potential of the Soviet Union in the interests of space exploration.

Gurbanov A.G., Gazeev V. M., Gurbanova O.A. Possibilities of radiocarbon (14C) method for age determination of geological events in the Elbrus volcanic centre area
DOI 10.46698/z3820-6136-6739-i
Abstract. Radiocarbon (14C) method makes possible to dating of geological events on detritus and older coals from buried soil from 40-50 thousands years ago up to hundreds years. However, for its wide applica-tion within of Elbrus volcanic centre (altitude of Elbrus volcano is 5642 m) for dating time of separate lava flows eruption, there are an objective boundaries. They are implies that starting with altitude of 3300 m and higher in the Northern Caucasian mountains the grass and handicraft and soil with humus are absent, and just on this altitude the most part of Holocene lava flows and tuff horizons are located and with 3700 m and higher volcano is covered by glaciers and perpetual snow (firn). As a result of carried out investigation for Holocene the density of recurrence of Elbrus volcano eruptions and earthquakes manifestation in Elbrus volcanic area have been established. As a sum the important relationship, testifies that to the end of Holocene the density of recurrence of Elbrus eruptions and earthquakes are sharply increase. Agreement in time between volcanic and seismic activity (but manifestation the second one was some early then first one). In so doing, periods of volcanic and seismic activity are sharply increase, but periods of rest are shrink. This data have an important relationship for estimation possibility of restating of volcanic and seismic activities in Elbrus volcanic area in geological future.

Ganbarova E.F. About new promising fields and ore occurrences of the southern slope of Greater Caucasus (Azerbaijan)
DOI 10.46698/u0437-5696-0452-w
Abstract. The article is devoted to the prospects of new identified ore occurrences in the Azerbaijanian part of the Greater Caucasus. It is established that both pyrrhic-polymetallic and copper-pyrrhotite and sulfur-pyrrhotite ores of various deposits and ore occurrences occupy very different stratigraphic levels of the section, starting from the Toar to the upper Aalen inclusive – and it is important to note that this entire age range essentially consists of alternating layers of clay shales, mudstones, sandstones, and siltstones. The geological and structural positions and the results of testing allow us to classify these areas as promising and consider them objects of further study by a complex of geological, geochemical and geophysical studies and drilling operations. A brief description of the most interesting and more thoroughly studied manifestations of ore deposits and manifestations is given.
Keywords: prospects of new identified ore occurrences, Greater Caucasus, pyrite-polymetallic, copper-pyrrhotite and sulfur-pyrite ores, geological-genetic and prospecting signs
